What to do when a TRON wallet says out of energy: confirm the sender’s remaining energy, stop retry burns, then stake or rent — never a seed phrase.
Symptoms: refused USDT, burned TRX, or both
The wallet blocks a contract call, the node returns OUT_OF_ENERGY, or the USDT send goes through while TRX silently drops because the chain bought energy with a burn. All three are the same empty meter told three ways.
Receiving still works. Your keys still work. The account is not “suspended by TRON.” It is short of prepaid compute.
Confirm it on the sending address first
Paste the signer into the out-of-energy checker. If remaining energy is healthy, stop treating this as a resource incident — look at bandwidth, the contract, or a token freeze. If remaining energy is near zero versus a ~65k USDT plan, you have the right problem page.
Do not take a Telegram screenshot of someone else’s resource tab as evidence about your send. Their Limit does not pay your call.
Stop retrying the same failing call
Each attempt can increment EnergyUsed or burn more TRX. The next click is not free. Stake for energy, wait for a rental you already paid, or obtain a delegation, then re-check remaining energy once. One funded send beats five empty ones.
There is no official energy airdrop for failed USDT. Anyone offering to restore energy after you paste a seed is stealing the wallet that still holds your tokens.
Fix path: stake, rent, or wait for recovery
If you already have a high EnergyLimit and only Used is high, waiting for energy to recover can be enough. If Limit itself is tiny, waiting will not invent a ceiling — you must stake or receive delegated energy.
Unfreezing TRX to “pay the fee” usually makes this worse. You remove the stake that mints energy and still sit through an unlock wait before the TRX is liquid.
Where not to take this problem
Not to a DApp that wants account permission. Not to a form that wants a seed. Not to a paid “accelerator.” This independent desk reads public meters; optional deep scan is read-only at about 2–3 TRX and will not refill the tank.

I am out of energy. Is my wallet hacked?
Usually no. It means remaining energy is too low for the contract call. Check EnergyLimit and EnergyUsed on the sending address.
Should I keep retrying the USDT send?
No. Retries can burn TRX or raise EnergyUsed. Add energy first, then send once.
Can I unfreeze TRX to fix out of energy?
Unstaking removes energy production and delays access to TRX. Stake more or rent energy instead of dismantling the stake you have.
Will receiving TRX refill energy?
Only if you then stake it for energy, or if the incoming tx was somehow a delegation (it usually is not). A plain TRX transfer does not mint EnergyLimit.
Is out of energy the same as not enough bandwidth?
No. Empty energy hits contract calls like USDT. Empty bandwidth hits transaction size and NetFee.
Can you refill my energy if I connect?
No. We do not delegate energy. Deep scan is read-only and about 2–3 TRX.
