Energy delegation expired
When rented or delegated TRON energy expires, EnergyLimit falls and USDT may fail. See how to confirm expiry versus a drain, then restake or re-rent.
Expiry looks like a theft if you only watch USDT
Delegated energy is borrowed. When the lock ends or the delegator undelegates, EnergyLimit on your address falls. Your USDT balance can be unchanged. The next TRC20 send then fails or burns TRX. That is an expired meter, not necessarily a drained wallet.
Check remaining energy and whether inbound delegation is gone. If USDT also left to a stranger, that is a different incident — keys or an approval. Do not merge the two without looking.
How to confirm it was the rental clock
Match the drop time with the lock you bought. The rental checker and TronLink’s resource tab should both show a lower energy ceiling and little “energy from others.” A DelegateResource that ended is visible on explorers as an undelegate or as a lock that aged out.
If Limit dropped in minutes and you paid for days, you were under-delivered or undelegated early — a vendor problem, not a protocol mystery. Do not send an “extension fee” to a new address they just pasted.
USDT that failed after expiry is the usual sequel
You had energy at 10:00, signed at 18:00, rental died at noon. The ~65k you planned with no longer exists as remainder. Fund energy again — stake your own or a rental you already trust — then sign. Retrying on an expired tank repeats the out-of-energy story.
A small test after you re-fund is fine. A test on the expired tank is just another fee.
Do not “restore expired energy” with a seed
Expiry is not corruption of the wallet file. Pages that restore expired energy after you type 12 words are importing your keys. This independent desk will never ask. Optional deep scan does not restore a rental; it is read-only at about 2–3 TRX.
Stake 2.0 will not airdrop the missing Limit. You mint it again with TRX or you borrow it again with a real delegation.
Prevent the next expiry surprise
If you send USDT often, stake. If you rent, verify Limit immediately after purchase and again immediately before signing. Set the lock longer than the payment window. Keep a buffer above ~65k so a slightly early undelegate does not land you on zero.
Questions about a public drop in Limit: @wholetron with the address and, if you have it, the delegator. No mnemonics. Not the TRON Foundation.
FAQ
Why did my energy drop to zero overnight?
Most often delegated or rented energy expired or was undelegated. Confirm EnergyLimit and inbound delegation before assuming a hack.
Did I lose my USDT when energy expired?
Expiry removes EnergyLimit, not the token balance. If USDT also moved, investigate keys and approvals separately.
Can I extend a rental after it expired?
Only by obtaining a new delegation. Paying an “extension” address without a new DelegateResource is how rental scams continue.
Should I re-enter my seed to restore energy?
Never. Expiry is not a broken backup. Seed forms are theft.
Is staking immune to expiry?
Your own stake does not expire like a rental. Unstake still removes energy, and unlock waits still apply.
How do I check that a new rental arrived after expiry?
Read EnergyLimit on the delegated-energy and rental checkers, and confirm in TronLink’s resource tab.
Can this site restore expired energy?
No. We read public state. Deep scan is read-only, about 2–3 TRX, and does not delegate energy.
